Founded in 1995, the Arts & Cultural Council has a mission to "promote, support, and enhance arts & cultural activities through education exposure and participation." Over the years the group has hosted events large and small, from "The Nutcracker" and Purdue Glee Club, to Fifth Tuesday lunch events and sidewalk chalk at the Tenderloin Throwdown.
In 2018, the Council became the oversight body for the ARTisTREE District, a unique mix of cultural assets located throughout the community's Main Street. Local residents identified the desire for additional arts and cultural activities to complement those that existed in late 2016, with over 3,000 pieces of input in a community visioning process. Through the Community's Stellar application in 2017 and resulting SIP, (Strategic Investment Plan) Main Street was identified as a "cultural corridor" worthy of further promotion and improvements. New amenities are planned, including new pieces of public art and new areas for staging activities, festivals and events.

Arts & Cultural District
The ARTisTREE District, "where arts and culture thrive," contains a broad range of historical, cultural and art assets. The District begins at the west end with the Tree County Playhouse (a local community theater group that has existed since 1971) and continues 1.5 miles to the Rebekah Park and Greensburg Community High School at its east end. Murals, a gallery, museum, small playhouse, large auditorium, historic architecture and unique tree growing from the historic courthouse tower, and much more make for an eclectic mix of assets. Visit the Arts & Cultural Council's website for more information on the District and it's assets www.artscouncildc.com
